This week I auditioned for and got the role of Stanley in Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party.
It’s at the studio I am studying at, Terry Schreiber Studios and will be directed by Mr. Schreiber. It’s part of his “Pinter Project” and will be running in repertory with The Homecoming.
I am really excited to be doing the show for a number of reasons. I’ve always wanted to work on a Pinter play. I’ve read a lot of his plays, and been impressed with his stories and dialogue. Also, Mr. Schreiber is undoubtedly the greatest acting teacher I’ve ever had and it’s a tremendous blessing to get a chance to work with him as a director.
I am also confident it will be a high-quality show despite my contribution. I’ve seen two shows at TSS and they were both excellent. There’s a great quote on the TSS webpage from none other than Edward Norton about his time at TSS: “Some of the best plays that I ever did in New York were at the T. Schreiber Studio.”
